Understanding Your NDIS Plan
A plain-language overview of plan budgets, categories, and how supports connect to your goals—so you can advocate with confidence.

Your NDIS plan is built around your goals: what you want to achieve in daily life, community, health, and independence. Each funded support should clearly link to those goals, whether that is assistance with personal care, therapies, equipment, or support coordination.
Plans typically group supports into core, capacity building, and capital categories. Core funding is flexible for everyday supports; capacity building invests in skills and independence; capital covers assistive technology and home modifications where approved.
Review dates matter. Before a scheduled reassessment, gather reports from providers, note what worked or did not, and list goals you want to carry forward or change. Clear documentation helps planners understand your needs.
If something in your plan is unclear, ask your support coordinator, local area coordinator, or provider to walk through it with you. You have the right to request plan reviews when your circumstances change significantly.
